Installation notes

  • For original LOS01016. One MIP20090 kit builds one rear differential. Replace the original differential and outdrives; its two supplied 5x9 bearings belong inside the MIP assembly. Retain correct serviceable external case-support bearings, cases, top shaft, idler, slipper, spur/pinion, dogbones and rear axles.
  • Kit inventory includes two outdrives/hubs, two rings, two 5x9 bearings, nine large balls, seven thrust balls, two spring washers, one clamp screw, nut and T-nut hardware. Use its supplied greases at their designated assemblies; a 1.5mm hex driver and small wrench are required.
  • Follow MIP washer orientation and keyed hub flats. The initial setting is the clamp screw just bottomed, then backed out 1/4 to 1/2 turn. Do not run with excessive differential slip. Do not transfer the stock gear-diff setup or the separate transmission slipper setting to this adjustment.
  • Open and reassemble the gearbox according to the original drawing, then check free rotation and dogbone seating through suspension travel. No wiring, radio, motor, battery, wheel or chassis-cutting change is required for this mechanical conversion.
